A Comparative Study of the Attitude toward suicide between Hemodialysis Patients and Normal Subjects



Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine attitudes toward suicide in hemodialysis patients and normal persons. The attitude measures were attained by the Suicidal Opinion Questionnaire established by Domino. Hemodialysis patients were 49, and
normal
subjects were 53.
@ES The results of the differences of scores of 10 attitude factors between two groups are as follows:
@EN 1) It is revealed that factors which reached level of significant differences were ethics, religion, and mental illness.
2) The results of multiple regression of the suicide attitude factors for subjects showed that mental illness factor and religion factor are included in the regression equation by significant level.
3) As comparing the scores of suicide attitude factors according to religious belief, no factors reached the significant level, but factor scores of patients and normal group were significantly different.
4) Duration of hemodialysis had no significant effect on the suicide attitude factors.
